About the Senior Manager, Finance Operations Role:
In this business critical role, you will need to oversee the finance operations functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies while optimising effectiveness and efficiencies. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will also be responsible for overseeing cash management, payments, investment operations, bank reconciliations and special projects with related controls over accounting and reporting for respective areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Payments
- Maintain effective internal controls over payments from requisition to disbursement to accounting and reporting
- Monitor performance of processing for completeness and accuracy
- Continuous improvement for productivity while safeguarding quality
Cash Management
- Oversee activities to ensure efficient utilisation of funds in bank accounts, without compromising operational requirements
- Continuous improvement to reduce reliance on manual processes with banks
Investment Operations
- Oversee activities to ensure accuracy and completeness of recording, accounting and reporting while ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements and company policies
- Provide advice and support for Investment initiatives and activities
Reconciliations
- Ensure consistent quality delivery of bank reconciliations within agreed timelines
- Continuously improve reconciliation approach and processes eliminating long outstanding reconciling items
Controls
- Ensure associated risks are considered and mitigated by implementing appropriate internal controls
- Advocate for finance in liaison with control functions
- Maintain relevant and effective SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
Special Projects
- Provide finance perspective in projects, with emphasis on accounting, reporting and controls required
- Manage integration to FWD Group for finance operations functions, policies, processes and related systems
- Support and assist in any other projects and activities as assigned
Others
- Manage delivery of regulatory and audit (internal and external) requests
Governance and Control
- Ensure day-to-day management of activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies
- Ensure risks are considered and mitigated by implementing appropriate internal controls

To succeed in the Senior Manager, Finance Operations job, you will need to be responsible for overseeing cash management, payments, investment operations, bank reconciliations and special projects with related controls over accounting and reporting for respective areas.
Key Requirements:
- 8 - 10 years of relevant experience, including experience in the insurance industry
- Strong knowledge of AR, AR, bank reconciliation and investment operations
- Experience leading and managing a team of finance professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to analyse complex financial data and provide actionable insights
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
