About the AVP, Shariah Review (Compliance) Role:
In this business critical role, you will need to perform Shariah reviews for the entities in accordance to applicable regulatory requirements and Malaysia Shariah Review framework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning the review programme which includes the objectives, scope, reporting, rectification and follow-up actions followed by the execution of the programme
• Communicating the outcome of the review and highlighting any Shariah non-compliance incidents to Board, SC and Management Committee
• Proposing remedial rectification measures to resolve non-compliance and put in place control mechanism to avoid recurrences
• Assisting CCO to monitor and ensure relevant action is taken to ensure closure of any audit findings related to Shariah Review
• Assisting CCO to deliver relevant Shariah-related training
• Identifying Shariah areas and target group where relevant training is needed. Training may be conducted on a recurring basis to ensure adequate level of awareness and adherence to the applicable areas
• Formulating, updating, issuing/implementing compliance policies and procedures ensuring they are in line with local regulation and group directives
• Tracking and monitoring the release of any new regulatory requirements from relevant local regulators such as Bank Negara Malaysia, Securities Commission and Labuan Financial Services Authority
• Performing impact/gap assessment on regulatory requirements issued by local regulators and monitor closure of any identified gaps by the relevant action owners
• Identifying any need for compliance training and to make the necessary training arrangements such as New Hire Compliance training

To succeed in this AVP, Shariah Review (Compliance) role, you will need to ensure that the functions of compliance within Regulatory and Professional Ethics (“PE”) domains are carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Requirements:

• Relevant years of experience in a compliance/Shariah review-related field
• Relevant experience in other sections of banking industry will be considered as an advantage
• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or its equivalent
• Sound understanding of relevant Shariah requirements applicable to Islamic financial business
