What you'll do:
As a Record to Report Accountant (Japanese Speaker), you will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance while supporting the organisation’s goals. You will manage core accounting functions for assigned business units, conduct detailed account analyses during month-end closes, prepare audit documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements. Your fluency in Japanese will allow you to engage effectively with stakeholders across regions. This role requires both technical expertise and a collaborative mindset, as your efforts will strengthen financial controls and foster knowledge sharing within the team. By maintaining up-to-date procedures and contributing to strategic projects, you will ensure smooth daily operations and support long-term objectives efficiently.
- Perform daily accounting activities with precision, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and internal policies.
- Conduct detailed account balance analyses during monthly close processes, aligning adjustments with US GAAP and statutory requirements.
- Identify system deficiencies, recommend improvements, and collaborate with technical teams to enhance financial reporting quality.
- Prepare fluctuation analyses for quarterly and annual audits, providing well-documented justifications to external auditors while completing SOX key controls within your scope.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation to support internal and external audits, proactively addressing open issues or potential deficiencies.
- Manage daily accounting tasks for assigned entities or business lines, ensuring timely and accurate completion of responsibilities.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with at least three years of relevant experience; alternatively, a Master’s Degree or equivalent with one year of experience.
- Proficiency in Japanese language at N1 or N2 level for effective communication with regional stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts and principles gained through hands-on experience in multinational environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships across diverse teams.
- Proven negotiation skills to resolve issues constructively while maintaining harmonious working relationships.
- Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—particularly Excel—for data analysis and reporting.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Experience with integrated systems such as JDE is highly desirable for efficient navigation of enterprise resource planning platforms.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Track record of building productive internal and external relationships through professionalism, empathy, and collaboration.
