AR Specialist

A leading organisation in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their collaborative finance team. What You'll Do:

As an Accounts Receivable Specialist in Kuala Lumpur, you will manage the receivables function by applying incoming payments through manual and automated systems like Autobank. You’ll resolve payment discrepancies, handle queries professionally, and build strong relationships with stakeholders while managing collections within your portfolio.

Your role includes reconciling accounts, intercompany balances, and bank statements, as well as supporting month-end closings with reports such as ageing analysis, DSO metrics, and cash flow forecasts. You’ll also contribute to automation projects to streamline O2C processes and manage intercompany billing. Success requires technical expertise and a collaborative approach to drive continuous improvement across the finance team.

• Accurately apply incoming cash payments to outstanding invoices using manual methods or by optimizing Autobank rules.
• Investigate and resolve underpayments/overpayments by liaising with stakeholders for timely resolution.
• Address customer payment queries promptly and empathetically, fostering trust through clear communication and follow-up.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external customers by providing reliable support and maintaining credibility.
• Manage collections within your assigned customer portfolio responsibly, ensuring targets are met in line with company policies.
• Implement financial measures for collections while adhering to company guidelines for dunning processes.
• Handle insolvency cases professionally and sensitively, following company policies.
• Perform reconciliations of customer accounts, intercompany transactions, and bank statements to ensure accurate records.
• Support month-end and year-end closings by preparing documentation and collaborating with finance team members.
• Actively contribute to O2C automation projects and process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency.

What You Bring:

You have proven experience in managing complex receivables processes, supported by a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or partial completion of ACCA. Known for your attention to detail, you excel at reconciling accounts and resolving payment issues accurately.

Your interpersonal skills enable effective collaboration with teammates and sensitive engagement with customers. Experience with shared service centres, SAP systems, or China account portfolios is an advantage. Fluent in the local language, Chinese, and English, you communicate seamlessly across diverse groups. You thrive under pressure, meeting deadlines responsibly and efficiently.

• A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a Business-related field; partial completion of ACCA or another professional accounting qualification is also considered.
• 1–3 years of experience in accounts receivable or a similar finance role within a reputable organisation.
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and support colleagues toward shared goals.
• Experience in shared service environments or familiarity with SAP systems is highly advantageous.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills to ensure accuracy in all tasks.
• A proven track record of taking responsibility for achieving objectives while maintaining high standards of integrity.
• The ability to handle urgent matters calmly under tight deadlines without compromising quality or accuracy.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in the local language, Chinese, and English for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Previous experience managing China account portfolios is an advantage but not essential.
