RTR Lead (90% remote)

What you'll do:

As the RTR Lead, you will play an integral role in managing end-to-end financial accounting activities for APAC countries from the Kuala Lumpur hub.

• Collaborate closely with regional process owners and local finance teams to drive process standardisation, efficiency improvements, and adoption of best practices.
• Continuously optimise processes and monitor service level agreements with external partners to maintain high standards of delivery.
• Conduct comprehensive balance sheet account reviews and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls and minimising risk exposures.
• Coordinate daily closing activities and prepare accurate reporting packages for submission to headquarters in Japan.
• Take responsibility for all internal audits, statutory external audits, SOX compliance requirements, and ensure timely resolution of any findings or adjustments.
• Act as the primary contact for local authorities on tax matters under the guidance of the global tax function management team.
• Authorise bank payments as required by operational needs while maintaining strict adherence to company policies.
• Lead or participate in ad hoc projects, continual improvement initiatives, and project management assignments as directed by senior leadership.

What you bring:

To excel as a Record to Report Lead, you will bring substantial experience from complex multinational settings where you have managed diverse finance operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting combined with a recognised professional accounting qualification is essential for this position.
• A minimum of five years’ experience demonstrating global business acumen within multinational or matrix-driven organisations is required.
• Proficiency in SAP systems is necessary for effective performance in this role.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are vital for successful cross-border collaboration.
• Demonstrated experience managing accounting functions under IFRS standards as well as SOX or equivalent internal control frameworks is expected.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster co-operation among peers and colleagues are important attributes for success.
• A collaborative mindset that thrives on involvement, engagement, and knowledge sharing within multicultural teams is highly valued.
• Ability to adapt quickly within fast-moving environments while maintaining personal integrity when navigating change is crucial.
