What you'll do:
As an Accounts Payable Manager in Kuala Lumpur, you will lead a skilled team handling invoices, payments, and expenses while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. You’ll optimize cash flow by managing payment terms and ensuring accurate, efficient accounts payable processes. By streamlining procedures and collaborating during key periods like month-end closings, you’ll uphold compliance standards and strengthen internal relationships through thoughtful stakeholder engagement. Additionally, you’ll drive continuous improvement initiatives, balancing routine tasks with strategic projects to enhance the organization’s operations.
- Foster a supportive and collaborative environment to guide and develop the Accounts Payable Team.
- Lead efficient, compliant management of Source to Pay (STP) and Travel & Expense (T&E) processes, focusing on optimisation.
- Ensure proper execution of payment terms and maintain strong financial controls for cash optimisation.
- Oversee monthly accounts payable closing with accuracy and timely task completion.
- Address stakeholder inquiries professionally, building strong relationships through effective communication.
- Streamline and document accounts payable processes to enhance efficiency and harmonisation.
- Supervise daily accounts payable activities, ensuring accurate reconciliation with the general ledger.
- Collaborate with accounting during month-end/year-end closings to meet deadlines precisely.
- Support the team by processing accounts payable transactions and expense claims when needed.
- Analyse financial data to identify improvements and lead projects for greater efficiency and compliance.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports, providing insights for business decisions.
What you bring:
Your experience as an Accounts Payable Manager, combined with technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills, positions you for success in this role. You have a background in managing teams within large-scale finance operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory frameworks like GAAP or SOX. Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP or JDE and advanced Excel, you excel at analysis and reporting. Your clear communication skills enable efficient query resolution and stakeholder engagement, while your adaptability ensures composure amid shifting priorities. With a focus on detail and professional growth, you foster team development while maintaining high standards to support organizational goals.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with extensive experience managing accounts payable in large organisations.
- Proven project management skills, delivering process improvements and system enhancements for finance teams.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and ERP systems like JDE or SAP
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and local language for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, building trust and driving shared objectives internally.
- In-depth knowledge of financial procedures, operating standards, GAAP, local regulations, and SOX compliance.
- Skilled in team management, including coaching, feedback, hiring decisions, and employee relations.
- Detail-oriented with expertise in complex reconciliations and accurate documentation review.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to escalate issues appropriately while staying composed under pressure.
- Adaptable to dynamic environments, maintaining compliance with company policies and health & safety protocols.
