Senior GL Specialist (Mandarin Speaker)
Our client is seeking a meticulous and seasoned Senior General Ledger (GL) Specialist to join their Finance team in the Shared Services Center (SSC). What you'll do:
As a Senior General Ledger Specialist, your role will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity of our client's financial records. Your excellent problem-solving skills will be put to use as you analyze variances in financial results. You'll also have the opportunity to showcase your leadership abilities by mentoring junior team members. With your help, our client can continue to uphold their high standards of financial reporting.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities in accordance with deadlines and accounting standards
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger account reconciliations
- Analyze and explain variances in the financial results, including commentary on P&L and balance sheet movements
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of the general ledger and financial statements
- Collaborate with other finance functions (AP, AR, FP&A, Tax) to resolve discrepancies and ensure proper financial reporting
- Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring all supporting documentation is provided in a timely manner
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to standardization and automation initiatives within the SSC
- Support the implementation of new accounting systems, tools, and reporting enhancements
- Act as a mentor or coach for junior team members as needed
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Senior General Ledger Specialist position brings a wealth of GL/accounting experience from a Shared Services or multinational environment. Your strong knowledge of accounting principles and month-end close processes will be essential in this role. Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar is a must, and experience with reporting tools is a plus. Your advanced MS Excel skills will be put to good use, as will your high attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication skills are also key, as you'll need to collaborate across departments and geographies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 4–6 years of relevant GL/accounting experience, preferably in a Shared Services or multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and month-end close processes
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar; experience with reporting tools is a plus
- Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong analytical skills
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments and geographies
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize effectively
- Proficiency in Mandarin speak is a must
