What you'll do:
As a General Ledger Accountant based in Penang, you will be immersed in a variety of essential accounting functions that underpin the financial integrity of the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with colleagues across different teams to ensure timely completion of month-end processes, meticulous account reconciliations, and thorough variance analyses. You will also play an integral role in managing the fixed assets lifecycle—from initial acquisition through ongoing maintenance—while upholding rigorous standards for accuracy and compliance. - Support the preparation of comprehensive financial and management reports that provide valuable insights for decision-making at various organisational levels.
- Contribute to internal SOX audits by compiling necessary documentation and assisting external auditors during their reviews of financial records.
- Oversee capital expenditure control by monitoring budgets, maintaining proper custody of assets, and optimising asset utilisation across departments.
- Maintain and update the fixed assets register in both USD and local currency, ensuring all additions, disposals, and transfers are accurately reflected.
- Review and code general ledger accounts for capital expenditure purchase requisitions to guarantee correct allocation of costs.
- Monitor fixed asset expenditures against approved budgets, identifying any discrepancies or areas requiring attention for corrective action.
- Perform monthly depreciation calculations and reconciliations in line with USGAAP requirements, ensuring all entries are supported by appropriate documentation.
- Assist with physical sighting of fixed assets as part of periodic verification exercises and support capex budgeting and forecasting activities.
