What you'll do:
As the Risk and Internal Control Manager for this global automotive company based in Kuala Lumpur, you will be entrusted with overseeing the organisation’s entire risk management framework. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing comprehensive registers that capture risks across plant operations, supply chains, sales channels, and dealer networks. You will conduct regular assessments to identify potential threats—ranging from operational inefficiencies to regulatory changes—and present actionable recommendations directly to senior leadership. In addition to managing internal controls across manufacturing processes (such as inventory accuracy), sales retail operations (including customer invoicing), and aftersales activities (like dealer claims validation), you will also lead efforts in process improvement by aligning practices with international standards like COSO. Your role extends beyond technical oversight; you will actively promote a culture of risk awareness through engaging training sessions and collaborative workshops. By supporting cross-functional teams—including plant staff, sales professionals, marketing experts, logistics coordinators, and dealer managers—you will help embed control responsibilities throughout the organisation. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills that foster cooperation among diverse stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk register covering all aspects of plant operations, supply chain management, sales activities, and dealer network risks to ensure robust risk oversight.
* Conduct regular risk assessments across operational, financial, and compliance areas, recommending effective mitigation strategies tailored to evolving business needs.
* Monitor emerging risks such as supplier chain disruptions, tax policy changes, dealer network reputation issues, and inventory aging concerns to proactively safeguard organisational interests.
* Prepare detailed risk reports for senior management and Group Risk Committees, providing clear insights into current exposures and recommended actions.
* Implement and strengthen internal control procedures across key functions including manufacturing (inventory accuracy, BOM controls), sales retail (customer invoicing, rebates), aftersales (dealer claims validation), ensuring alignment with COSO principles.
* Conduct thorough control reviews to guarantee effective documentation practices, segregation of duties, and system-based controls such as ERP workflow approvals.
* Drive continuous process improvements by identifying gaps in existing controls and championing best practices that align with Group standards.
* Ensure full compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations relevant to the automotive sector by monitoring regulatory changes affecting import duties, sales tax policies, EEV programmes, and more.
* Collaborate closely with Legal and Tax teams to align risk management initiatives with statutory requirements for seamless compliance.
* Promote a risk-aware culture throughout the organisation by delivering training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns that empower cross-functional teams.
