Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Accountant to lead their management accounting team. This role is pivotal in ensuring all internal and statutory financial reporting requirements are met timely and accurately. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement in work processes and systems, leading to quality reporting that assists management in planning, controlling, and decision-making.

As a Group Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to drive the management accounting team towards excellence. You will ensure that all internal and statutory financial reporting requirements are met in a timely manner with utmost accuracy. Your role will involve managing monthly closings, preparing group consolidation journals, reviewing financial statements, providing commentary on performance, coordinating statutory accounts preparation, implementing internal controls, ensuring appropriate accounting allocations, and complying with various reporting requirements. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the company's financial wellbeing.
- Coordinate the preparation of statutory accounts, quarterly Bursa announcements and annual reports.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and timely submission of financial reports and analyses to Group and local Management.
- Manage timely monthly closing and reporting.
- Prepare Group consolidation journals. Review monthly Group financial statements to ascertain reasonableness and accuracy.
- Provide periodic and regular commentary on financial and operational performance.
- Implement internal controls over the Company’s accounting and financial procedures.
- Ensure all accounting allocations and transactions are appropriately made and documented.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Group Accountant position brings a wealth of experience along with a Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Accounting or Finance. You have at least seven years of progressive experience in accounting roles. Your knowledge base includes a thorough understanding of IFRS, group financial consolidation, accounting principles & procedures, international financial reporting standards, local statutory reporting requirements, as well as the regulations of a public listed company. Membership with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) or an equivalent professional body would be advantageous.
- Bachelor Degree/professional qualification in Accounting or Finance.
- Membership with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) or any other professional qualification such as ACCA or its equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years accounting experience in a progressively growing capacity.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS and strong in Group financial consolidation.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and procedures, international financial reporting standards & local statutory reporting requirements.
- In-depth understanding of all the accounting and finance functions.
- Understanding of the regulations and reporting requirements of a public listed company.
