What you'll do:
As a Regional Senior Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst based in Penang, you will play an integral part in shaping both short- and long-term strategies for the Southeast Asia region. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with department heads on budget preparation, analysing complex datasets to produce meaningful forecasts, preparing detailed reports for senior management review, identifying KPIs that drive business success, presenting findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels, partnering with cross-functional teams on strategic projects such as investment appraisals or cost optimisation efforts, continuously improving internal processes for greater efficiency and accuracy, maintaining advanced reporting systems like SAP or Qlikview while acting as a technical resource for colleagues across the region. You will also contribute your expertise to wider Asia FP&A initiatives while responding flexibly to ad-hoc requests for analysis from executive leadership. - Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range plans for the Southeast Asia zone by collaborating closely with various department heads to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- Analyse historical performance data and market trends to develop accurate financial projections that inform strategic decision-making at the regional level.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reports as well as variance analyses comparing actual results against budgeted or forecasted figures.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to operational and financial performance within the zone, tracking these metrics to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Present clear financial results, key trends, and risk assessments to zone-level management teams in order to facilitate transparent communication and effective action planning.
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to commercial, operational, and functional leaders throughout the region by providing insightful modelling and analysis for strategic initiatives such as capital expenditure investments or cost management programmes.
- Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the FP&A process by focusing on enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and timely delivery of actionable insights.
- Maintain and enhance sophisticated financial planning models and reporting tools—including SAP, Onestream, Qlikview—to ensure robust data integrity across all reporting activities.
- Act as a superuser for financial reporting/planning systems by providing technical support to local teams as well as delivering training sessions when required.
- Support broader Asia FP&A initiatives through active participation in regional projects while conducting ad-hoc deep-dive analyses to support executive decision-making.
What you bring:
To excel as a Regional Senior Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst you will bring proven experience from multinational manufacturing environments where you have developed robust analytical skills alongside an empathetic approach towards teamwork. Your background includes significant exposure to FP&A functions at both country-specific and regional levels—enabling you to understand diverse business drivers while remaining sensitive to local nuances. You are comfortable navigating complex ERP systems like SAP or Qlikview; your technical acumen is matched by your willingness to support others through training or troubleshooting. - Hold a degree or equivalent professional qualification in Accountancy which provides you with strong foundational knowledge of finance principles.
- Bring 7–8 years of experience working within multinational manufacturing companies—ideally those headquartered in the United States—giving you valuable industry insight into best practices for large-scale operations.
- Demonstrate 2–3 years of progressive experience specifically within Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) or Business Analysis roles at a regional level; exposure across multiple countries is highly regarded.
- Possess advanced knowledge of financial statement analysis including cost/expense analysis as well as budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting techniques.
- Show high proficiency with Microsoft Excel enabling you to manipulate large datasets efficiently while producing clear visualisations for stakeholders.
- Have hands-on experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP along with familiarity with Hyperion, One Stream or Power BI for enhanced reporting capabilities.
- Display excellent interpersonal skills allowing you to build trusting relationships with commercial leaders as well as operational teams across different cultures.
- Exhibit strong communication abilities so you can present complex information clearly both verbally and in writing to audiences at all levels of seniority.
