What you'll do:
- Oversee the entire financial reporting function within the finance department, ensuring all processes related to general ledger, fixed assets, financial accounting, direct tax, and transfer pricing are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure timely closure of monthly financial reports by reviewing the completeness of month-end bookkeeping activities such as maintenance of general ledger accounts and reconciliation of sub-ledgers to main ledger accounts.
- Perform detailed reconciliations between sub-ledgers and source system data to maintain integrity and accuracy in financial records.
- Manage accounting for accruals and prepayments while maintaining fixed asset registers to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports, location profit & loss statements, and annual statutory financial reports for management review.
- Liaise effectively with external auditors during audit cycles to facilitate smooth audits and address any queries or issues promptly.
- Support group tax matters by collaborating with internal teams and external advisors on direct tax and transfer pricing issues.
- Participate actively in ad hoc assignments or projects such as process improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency within the finance function.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the department.
What you bring:
- Possess a recognised accounting qualification or certification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW or equivalent which demonstrates your technical proficiency in financial accounting.
- Bring at least five years of solid working experience in finance roles with proven expertise in managing general ledger accounts, fixed assets registers, accruals, prepayments, and statutory reporting.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of current accounting standards as well as Malaysian tax laws and regulations relevant to corporate finance operations.
- Show excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments as well as external stakeholders such as auditors and tax advisors.
- Exhibit a dependable approach towards meeting deadlines for monthly closures while maintaining accuracy throughout all bookkeeping activities.
- Display sensitivity towards process improvements by identifying areas for enhancement within existing workflows and participating actively in project-based assignments.
- Utilise advanced analytical abilities when performing reconciliations between sub-ledgers and source system data to ensure data integrity at all times.
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing when preparing reports or presenting findings to management or external parties.
- Embrace inclusive practices by supporting junior staff members through mentoring or knowledge sharing sessions within the team.
