This pivotal position offers you the opportunity to oversee all aspects of financial management for the Malaysian subsidiary, ensuring robust financial control, compliance with international standards, and providing essential support for strategic business decisions. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate records, driving continuous improvement within your team, and acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. The organisation is renowned for its commitment to excellence, supportive leadership, and inclusive culture, making this an ideal environment for those who value professional growth and collaborative success.
- Take ownership of end-to-end financial operations for a respected multinational manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality and innovation.
- Be part of a knowledgeable, supportive team where your expertise is valued and your contributions directly impact business performance.
What you'll do:
As Financial Controller, you will be at the heart of the finance function—overseeing everything from day-to-day transactional accuracy through to high-level strategic reporting. Your role involves not only managing core accounting activities but also acting as a key point of contact between local operations and regional leadership. You’ll supervise a dedicated team, guiding them through complex tasks such as audit coordination, budget preparation, forecasting CAPEX spend, statutory tax compliance, payroll administration, and system integration. Your ability to analyse variances against budgets, verify banking transactions, complete rolling cash flow forecasts, advise on tax law changes, approve purchase requisitions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives will be crucial. Success in this role means being dependable in delivering timely reports that influence business direction while nurturing a collaborative environment where every team member can excel.
- You will be responsible for maintaining accurate books and records for the Malaysian subsidiary, ensuring all transactions are properly documented and compliant with internal policies.
- You will manage the monthly close process by preparing and reviewing comprehensive financial statements covering revenue, costs, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and operating cash flow.
- You will oversee all aspects of manufacturing accounting including standard costs calculation, labour and overhead capitalisation, freight capitalisation, and inventory provisioning to ensure precise cost tracking.
- You will coordinate audits of physical inventories to guarantee accuracy in stock reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- You will ensure strict adherence to Group accounting policies and the Financial Controls Framework while supporting local statutory compliance.
- You will prepare detailed reports for the Finance Director Asia Pacific, local Executive Team, and Plant Manager to inform strategic decision-making.
- You will conduct monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to maintain transparency and integrity in financial reporting.
- You will lead year-end and half-year-end financial reporting processes including disclosure pack preparation in line with group requirements.
- You will coordinate external annual audits of financial statements to meet statutory obligations and uphold stakeholder confidence.
What you bring:
To excel as Financial Controller, your background should include proven experience in managing multifaceted finance functions within a manufacturing or industrial setting. Your technical proficiency spans statutory compliance, advanced reporting techniques (including IFRS), system integration projects, budgeting cycles, variance analysis, payroll administration, audit coordination, tax advisory work, CAPEX tracking, cash flow forecasting, and more. You bring empathy when supervising others—supporting their development through training initiatives—and demonstrate reliability by consistently meeting deadlines. Your interpersonal skills help build trust across teams while your analytical mindset ensures accuracy in every detail. Fluency in English allows you to engage confidently with colleagues at all levels. Above all else, your sense of responsibility drives you to uphold the highest standards of integrity while contributing positively to organisational goals.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or a related field is required; professional certifications such as ACCA/CPA/CIMA are highly desirable for this position.
- Your knowledge of tax regulations and legal procedures—including experience liaising with government agencies—will enable you to ensure full compliance at all times.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role equips you with the practical understanding necessary for effective oversight of complex financial operations.
- Hands-on experience conducting physical inventories ensures you can accurately validate stock levels during audits.
- Proficiency in IFRS standards—enables you to maintain best-in-class reporting practices.
- People management skills allow you to nurture talent within your team while fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and shared achievement.
- Experience reporting into listed groups demonstrates your familiarity with rigorous governance frameworks and stakeholder expectations.
- A collaborative approach underpins your ability to work effectively across departments and geographies.
- Expertise in manufacturing accounting gives you insight into cost structures unique to industrial environments.
- Advanced English language skills (written and oral) empower you to communicate clearly with both local teams and international stakeholders.
