Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join their team in Penang.
This role offers the opportunity to take overall authority of the Finance department, undertaking all aspects of financial management including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and tax planning. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing internal policies to strengthen internal control over financial reporting and risk management. This position acts as a strategic partner with local management to drive profitability of the organisation.
What you'll do:
As a Financial Controller, you will have the opportunity to lead and oversee all finance functions in Penang. Your role will involve ensuring full compliance with both internal and external policies and procedures. You will be tasked with driving your team towards timely submission of company's financial reports according to group deadlines. Your expertise will be crucial in providing proactive financial advice to management for decision-making purposes. You will also review and implement financial procedures and policies to strengthen internal control over financial reporting. Furthermore, you will lead and support local management in preparing rolling forecasts and yearly budgets. Your responsibilities will also include managing cash flow and working capital, as well as collaborating with local management on investment appraisals and evaluations.

What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Financial Controller role should possess at least a Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA, ACCA or an equivalent qualification. You should bring along at least 15 years of relevant work experience. Strong communication skills are essential for this role as it involves business partnering. A sound knowledge of IFRS and tax regulations is necessary for this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint is also required. The successful candidate should be independent, meticulous and analytical with a strong commitment, great initiative and responsibility.
