What you'll do:

• Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and ensure timely reporting to various government authorities in accordance with local regulations.
• Lead annual statutory audits and reconcile management accounts with statutory reports to maintain accuracy and transparency.
• Support consolidation activities by preparing and analysing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial or operational reports for senior management decision-making.
• Develop and refine processes aimed at controlling costs while collecting, analysing, and interpreting data for strategic insights.
• Supervise an accounting team responsible for inventory management, receivables, payments processing (including purchase orders), and month-end closing activities such as journal entries.
• Manage cash flow projections and cash management needs to optimise operational efficiency.
• Drive initiatives to improve net working capital management and implement tax planning strategies that ensure compliance and maximise tax efficiency.
• Champion the implementation of robust control frameworks within the branch, promoting adherence to finance controls throughout the organisation.
• Ensure full compliance with local Finance, Taxation, Customs, FOREX regulations by overseeing monthly GST submissions and other regulatory requirements.
• Leverage information technology tools to support process improvements that add value for both internal and external stakeholders.

What you bring:

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting complemented by a recognised professional qualification such as MICPA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA.
• Demonstrate at least 6 to 8 years’ experience in finance controllership roles with proven ability in managing complex accounting functions.
• Possess hands-on experience in statutory reporting, audit processes, tax planning, and compliance within Malaysia’s regulatory framework.
• Showcase previous exposure to the pharmaceutical or FMCG sectors as an added advantage when navigating industry-specific challenges.
• Ideally bring experience from a Big 4 audit firm which reflects high standards of professionalism and technical expertise.
• Exhibit excellent analytical abilities that enable you to interpret data effectively for performance improvement initiatives.
• Display strong interpersonal skills that foster collaboration within teams while supporting staff development through coaching or mentoring.
• Have practical knowledge of Malaysia law relating to finance, tax, audit requirements as well as familiarity with customs or FOREX matters.
• Demonstrate proficiency in leveraging information technology tools or applications to streamline processes or enhance reporting capabilities.
