What you'll do:
As Chief Accountant in Selangor for this multinational automotive company, you will play an integral part in shaping the financial health of the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing a talented team dedicated to delivering accurate accounting operations across multiple domains. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless book closing cycles aligned with both local GAAP and international standards while providing insightful analysis that informs senior management decisions. * Provide daily management and guidance to the Finance Control and Accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment that supports strategic business objectives.
* Oversee the full spectrum of accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger management, as well as statutory and management reporting.
* Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual book closing processes while ensuring accurate consolidation of accounts in compliance with local GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
* Analyse comprehensive financial reports such as profit & loss statements and balance sheets; present findings to senior management with clear explanations of trends, variances, and recommendations for improvement.
* Drive timely completion of internal control reviews, internal audits, external audits, transfer pricing exercises, corporate tax submissions, budget preparations for your department, and actual spending fluctuation analyses.
* Ensure strict adherence to Malaysian local GAAP, Group Policy guidelines, internal controls, and all relevant regulatory requirements including Sales & Service Tax and Bank Negara reporting.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by streamlining accounting processes and implementing efficiency-enhancing initiatives across the finance function.
* Liaise effectively with stakeholders such as Group Accounting teams, tax specialists, intercompany teams, and group function leaders to achieve regional best practices.
* Collaborate closely with legal teams to ensure all financial reports meet regulatory compliance standards while supporting broader organisational goals.
* Coach and mentor members of the Finance Control and Accounting team to foster professional development and maintain high performance.
