Treasury Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Treasury Manager to join a highly respected multinational organisation based in Kuala Lumpur. This role offers you the chance to take ownership of the entire treasury function, working closely with senior leadership to ensure financial stability and support business growth. You will be empowered to shape cash management strategies, optimise liquidity, and drive process improvements that make a real impact on the company’s operations. With a focus on both strategic oversight and hands-on execution, this position is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys building strong relationships across teams. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where your expertise is valued, and you are encouraged to develop your skills through ongoing training opportunities and exposure to regional treasury activities.
What you'll do:
As a Treasury Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial health of the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve overseeing all aspects of treasury operations—from monitoring daily cash positions to developing forward-thinking cash management strategies that keep the business agile. You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across multiple functions to ensure smooth execution of funding requirements while maintaining strong relationships with external banking partners. Your ability to prepare accurate forecasts and insightful reports will be crucial in supporting senior management’s decision-making processes. By driving process improvements and embracing automation within treasury operations, you will help create a more efficient environment that supports both current needs and future growth ambitions. Success in this role requires not only technical expertise but also excellent interpersonal skills as you connect with colleagues at all levels to deliver results.
- Oversee the company’s overall treasury function by managing daily cash positions, ensuring sufficient liquidity for both operational needs and long-term strategic initiatives.
- Develop and execute comprehensive cash management strategies designed to optimise working capital utilisation while improving transparency over cash flows.
- Establish and maintain robust banking relationships by negotiating credit facilities, loans, and other financial instruments that support the organisation’s objectives.
- Monitor foreign exchange exposures closely and implement appropriate hedging strategies to mitigate risks associated with currency fluctuations.
- Prepare detailed cash flow forecasts, treasury reports, and insightful analyses for presentation to senior management, supporting informed decision-making at the highest level.
- Ensure strict compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and all relevant regulatory requirements governing treasury activities within the organisation.
- Support financing activities such as debt structuring, refinancing projects, and capital raising initiatives in alignment with broader business goals.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across finance, accounting, and operations departments to streamline treasury processes and promote best practices throughout the business.
- Drive continuous process improvements by identifying automation opportunities within treasury operations that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Act as a key point of contact for both local and international banks, ensuring seamless communication and effective resolution of any issues related to banking services.
What you bring:
To excel as a Treasury Manager in this dynamic environment, you will bring proven experience managing sophisticated treasury functions within large organisations—ideally multinationals—where your deep understanding of cash flow planning, liquidity optimisation, FX risk mitigation, and banking relationships has been honed over several years. Your academic background in finance or accounting equips you with the theoretical knowledge needed for complex analysis while your professional qualifications demonstrate commitment to ongoing learning. You are adept at interpreting financial data using advanced modelling tools and can translate insights into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders. Your interpersonal skills enable you to build trust-based connections across departments while your attention to detail ensures compliance with all regulatory standards. Experience working regionally or at group level adds further value by equipping you with broader perspectives on global treasury challenges. Familiarity with ERP systems or TMS platforms allows you to leverage technology for greater efficiency; exposure to sectors like manufacturing or logistics means you understand industry-specific nuances that impact treasury operations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field is required for this position as it provides a solid foundation for understanding complex financial concepts.
- A professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CFA (or equivalent) is highly preferred as it demonstrates advanced knowledge in finance and accounting disciplines.
- At least 6–8 years of relevant experience in treasury roles within multinational or large corporate environments ensures you have practical expertise managing sophisticated treasury functions.
- Comprehensive understanding of cash management principles, banking facilities administration, foreign exchange risk mitigation techniques, and various financial instruments is essential.
- Demonstrated experience dealing with both local Malaysian banks as well as international banking institutions enables effective relationship management across borders.
- Proficiency in financial modelling techniques along with hands-on experience preparing cash forecasts using modern treasury systems is vital for success in this role.
- Exceptional analytical abilities combined with problem-solving skills allow you to interpret complex data sets while providing actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills are necessary for engaging confidently with senior leaders as well as collaborating effectively across diverse teams within the organisation.
- Experience managing regional or group-level treasury functions would be considered an added advantage due to increased complexity at scale.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle—or dedicated Treasury Management Systems (TMS)—is beneficial for streamlining workflows; prior exposure to manufacturing, logistics or trading industries is also advantageous.
