This position offers you the opportunity to drive digital transformation, optimise systems, and lead a dedicated finance team towards operational excellence. You will be at the forefront of implementing innovative financial technologies and automation tools, ensuring that financial data is not only accurate but also strategically utilised to support the school's mission. The organisation values your commitment to continuous learning and provides an inclusive, collaborative environment where your expertise in financial management and change leadership will be highly appreciated. With a strong emphasis on professional development and knowledge sharing, this role promises both challenge and reward for those passionate about making a meaningful impact in education.

What you'll do:

  • Continuously evaluate current financial technology stacks to identify gaps or inefficiencies and recommend improvements that support the school’s strategic objectives.
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of new accounting software, ERP modules, or specialised automation tools such as automated payroll, digital invoicing, or expense management systems.
  • Redesign manual workflows within the finance department to leverage automation, significantly reducing turnaround times and minimising human error.
  • Conduct engaging workshops for both finance team members and wider school staff to ensure high adoption rates of new systems and foster a culture of technological advancement.
  • Generate comprehensive financial reports and interpret complex financial information for managerial staff, offering actionable recommendations that drive informed decision-making.
  • Oversee daily operations of the finance department including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in close partnership with academic departments to ensure resources are allocated effectively and actual performance aligns with budgetary expectations.
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and capital expenditure to safeguard long-term fiscal sustainability while supporting the school’s growth initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with Malaysian statutory requirements such as SST/Service Tax and e-invoicing through diligent oversight of regulatory frameworks.
  • Liaise professionally with external auditors and tax agents while developing robust internal control frameworks that protect school assets.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required; active pursuit or possession of professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA or MIA is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in finance roles demonstrating increasing responsibility within service-oriented or educational settings.
  • Proven initiative in continuously upskilling yourself on systems, software solutions and automation tools relevant to modern finance functions.
  • Experience working with ERP systems is advantageous for streamlining processes and enhancing data accessibility across departments.
  • Natural curiosity for fintech developments coupled with a drive to adopt new technologies that improve operational efficiency.
  • Ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights tailored for non-finance stakeholders within an educational context.
  • Resilience and skill in guiding teams through transitions associated with system upgrades or process changes while maintaining morale.
  • Cultural intelligence enabling effective communication within a diverse international community comprising parents, staff members and students.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles alongside expertise in financial management practices including budgeting methodologies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail paired with analytical problem-solving abilities that ensure accuracy across all aspects of financial reporting.
