Regional Finance Manager
A leading organisation in Penang is seeking a Regional Finance Manager to oversee the finance function for Southeast Asia operations, offering you the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and ensuring robust compliance across multiple countries.
This position places you at the heart of business decision-making, where your expertise will directly influence operational efficiency, profitable growth, and the overall financial health of the region. You will be empowered to collaborate closely with senior leadership, drive continuous improvement, and nurture a high-performing finance team. The organisation values flexibility, professional development, and a supportive environment that encourages knowledge sharing and personal growth. If you are looking for a role where your contributions are recognised and your career can flourish within an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact.
What you'll do:
As Regional Finance Manager, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for all aspects of finance across Southeast Asia. Your day-to-day will involve overseeing complex accounting cycles to ensure precision in reporting; collaborating with cross-functional teams on strategic projects; managing audits; implementing rigorous controls; guiding budgeting processes; analysing variances; supporting capital investment decisions; monitoring cash flow; liaising with corporate treasury; recruiting new talent; mentoring your team; and championing best practices throughout. Success in this role means not only delivering reliable numbers but also building trusted relationships across departments—ensuring that every financial decision supports sustainable growth. Your ability to communicate clearly, share knowledge generously, manage competing priorities sensitively, and foster an atmosphere of mutual respect will set you apart as an invaluable member of the leadership group.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for all Southeast Asia entities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting under both US GAAP and local standards.
- Ensure full compliance with local tax regulations by coordinating closely with internal teams and external consultants on all tax returns and filings.
- Manage statutory audit processes from start to finish, acting as the main liaison between internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Implement and monitor financial controls and policies to guarantee adherence to Corporate Internal Control requirements across the region.
- Act as a key financial business partner to the Southeast Asia leadership team by driving strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and profitable growth.
- Lead the financial planning and analysis process including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and providing actionable insights that shape management decisions.
- Partner with functional teams to evaluate significant capital expenditure projects by modelling scenarios and ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
- Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities while developing mitigation or realisation plans in collaboration with relevant business owners.
- Manage regional cash flow, working capital, and treasury activities to maintain optimal liquidity for ongoing operations and future investments.
- Lead, mentor, recruit, onboard, and develop finance talent while fostering a culture of high performance, accuracy, results orientation, and collaborative partnership.
What you bring:
To excel as Regional Finance Manager you will bring extensive experience gained from senior positions within manufacturing environments—ideally spanning several countries or regions. Your technical acumen covers international accounting standards as well as local regulatory frameworks. You have successfully led sizeable teams through complex challenges by nurturing their strengths while upholding high standards of accuracy. Your comfort with advanced ERP platforms allows you to streamline processes efficiently. Beyond technical skills, your warmth in communication fosters trust among peers; your empathy helps resolve issues collaboratively; your commitment inspires loyalty; your sensitivity ensures inclusivity; your reliability reassures stakeholders during transitions. You thrive when sharing knowledge generously—helping others grow alongside you—and always act with honesty when representing both data integrity and ethical conduct.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required along with a professional certification such as CPA, ACCA or MIA being highly advantageous.
- At least 10 years’ proven experience in senior finance or accounting roles within manufacturing companies is essential for success in this position.
- A minimum of 5 years managing teams comprising at least five direct reports demonstrates your capability to nurture talent within diverse environments.
- Experience working within US multinational companies (MNCs) is preferred due to the complexity of cross-border operations involved.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS as well as local SEA accounting and tax regulations—especially those relevant to Singapore and Malaysia—is critical for effective oversight.
- Demonstrated proficiency using major ERP systems such as SAP is essential while familiarity with financial reporting tools like Hyperion or OneStream is desirable.
- Excellent command of English in reading, writing, and speaking enables clear communication across multicultural teams.
- Outstanding leadership skills combined with strong interpersonal abilities allow you to inspire trust among colleagues at all levels.
- Strategic thinking paired with commercial awareness ensures you remain customer-oriented while balancing organisational goals responsibly.
- A proactive approach coupled with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines makes you dependable during periods of change.
