A leading tyre distributor in Malaysia is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team in Klang. This organisation, renowned for its extensive portfolio of major international tyre brands and affiliation with a Tokyo Exchange-listed group, offers an exciting opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of a dynamic business. As Finance Manager, you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and consolidation across multiple subsidiaries. The company values your expertise in accounting systems and your ability to operate independently while providing strategic insights that drive business growth. With a supportive environment that encourages professional development and the potential to build and lead your own team as the company expands, this is an ideal position for someone looking to make a significant impact within a respected industry leader. * Join one of Malaysia’s largest tyre distributors, representing globally recognised brands and offering exposure to complex financial operations across multiple subsidiaries. * Enjoy the autonomy to manage end-to-end finance functions, from compliance and reporting to system implementation and strategic planning, with opportunities for future team leadership. * Benefit from a collaborative workplace culture that values your input, supports your professional growth, and provides flexibility regarding industry background.

What you'll do:

As Finance Manager based in Klang, you will be at the heart of the organisation’s financial operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve preparing comprehensive consolidated accounts for several subsidiaries, managing compliance requirements with local standards such as MPERS, and ensuring timely submission of tax documents. You will leverage your expertise in Sage accounting software to streamline processes related to stock control and inventory management. Your strong analytical abilities will be essential when handling complex Excel-based consolidations or calculating provisions from manufacturers. In addition to routine reporting duties, you will collaborate closely with senior leaders on budgeting exercises and provide valuable insights that inform strategic planning. The role also offers scope for you to demonstrate leadership qualities by preparing for future team expansion as the company continues its impressive growth trajectory.

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of consolidated Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets for the parent company and three subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial documentation.
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting and compliance, including tax submissions, regulatory adherence, and effective liaison with auditors to ensure smooth annual audits.
  • Implement and maintain robust accounting systems such as Sage, focusing on stock control, inventory management, and process improvements that enhance overall financial operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Malaysian Private Entities Reporting Standard (MPERS), keeping abreast of any changes in regulations or best practices relevant to the business.
  • Utilise advanced Excel skills to perform complex financial consolidations, provision calculations, management account preparations, and detailed financial analyses.
  • Assist senior management with budgeting and forecasting processes by providing insightful data-driven recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all areas of financial management.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly provisions of discounts from manufacturers, ensuring accurate reflection in consolidated accounts.
  • Support the future growth of the company by demonstrating readiness to hire, train, and manage a finance team as business needs evolve.
  • Undertake various ad-hoc tasks assigned by management to support ongoing business objectives.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Finance Manager position brings substantial hands-on experience managing complex finance functions within medium-to-large organisations. Your background should include preparing consolidated accounts across multiple entities using modern accounting software like Sage while adhering strictly to local standards such as MPERS. You are adept at leveraging advanced Excel techniques for detailed analysis and have demonstrated success supporting senior management through budgeting cycles or strategic planning initiatives. Your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels as well as external partners like auditors. A track record of working autonomously yet collaboratively within cross-functional teams will serve you well here—especially as you prepare for potential leadership opportunities within an expanding finance department.

  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ proven experience in a similar finance role with deep knowledge of financial management principles and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel for advanced financial consolidation tasks, provision calculations, and management account preparation.
  • Hands-on experience using Sage accounting software coupled with familiarity with implementing new accounting systems; prior exposure to MPERS is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work dependably under minimal supervision while displaying excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in all deliverables.
  • Outstanding communication skills enabling effective interaction with both internal teams and external stakeholders such as auditors or regulatory bodies.
  • Proven capability to prepare consolidated accounts across multiple entities or subsidiaries within tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • Readiness to take on leadership responsibilities including hiring or managing a finance team as part of future organisational growth plans.
  • Flexibility regarding industry background; candidates from diverse sectors are encouraged to apply provided they meet core finance criteria.
  • Japanese language proficiency would be advantageous but is not mandatory for this position.
