What you'll do:
- Oversee the complete financial reporting function within the finance department, ensuring all activities related to general ledger accounts are performed accurately and efficiently.
- Manage the maintenance of fixed assets records, ensuring proper accounting treatment and compliance with relevant standards.
- Coordinate the preparation of monthly financial reports, location profit & loss statements, and annual statutory financial reports to meet internal and external requirements.
- Ensure timely closure of monthly financial reports by reviewing the completeness of month-end bookkeeping activities such as accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to main ledger accounts as well as source system data to maintain integrity across all financial records.
- Support direct tax computations and transfer pricing matters in collaboration with group tax advisors to ensure compliance with current regulations.
- Liaise effectively with external auditors during audit processes, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
- Assist with ad hoc assignments or projects such as process improvements to enhance efficiency within the finance function.
- Review accounting policies and procedures regularly to ensure alignment with latest accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members on technical accounting issues and best practices.
What you bring:
- Possess a recognised accounting qualification or certification such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent that demonstrates your technical proficiency in finance.
- Bring at least five years of solid experience in financial reporting or general ledger management within a reputable organisation.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of current accounting standards as well as local tax laws and regulations relevant to Malaysia.
- Show proven ability in preparing monthly financial statements, statutory reports, and handling complex reconciliations between ledgers and source systems.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills that enable you to liaise confidently with auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders alike.
- Display excellent analytical abilities when reviewing bookkeeping activities such as accruals, prepayments, and asset maintenance.
- Have experience supporting process improvement projects aimed at enhancing efficiency within finance operations.
- Be comfortable working under tight deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy across all deliverables.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning by keeping up-to-date with changes in accounting standards or regulatory requirements.
- Show willingness to mentor junior staff members on technical issues or best practices within the finance function.
