Our client, a public listed oil and gas exploration and production company with operations across the globe, is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join their team in Bangsar. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in new business venture projects, support corporate finance functions, and manage cash flow planning. What you'll do:
As an Assistant Finance Manager, you will be instrumental in assisting the Finance Manager in various tasks including M&A transactions, corporate exercises, overseeing financial reporting, coordinating information flow among different units, preparing budgets, forecasts, managing cash flows among others. You will also be responsible for reviewing monthly financial statements ensuring their accuracy. Your role will involve generating recurring reports on key aspects of the Group's oil & gas assets while identifying potential risks. You will serve as a focal point for all accounting technical matters related to operational assets. Collaborating with finance teams across different units to enhance the quality of financial deliverables will also be part of your responsibilities.
* Assist the Finance Manager in M&A transactions and corporate exercises.
* Oversee financial reporting and analysis of operating subsidiaries within the Asset Controlling team.
* Coordinate information flow between Group Finance and subsidiaries/business units.
* Prepare and present budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the Group.
* Manage cash flow planning, working closely with treasury and funding teams for drawdowns on available facilities.
* Review and analyze monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
* Generate recurring standardized reports on key aspects of the Group’s oil and gas assets.
* Identify potential risks and areas of concern in the Group’s oil and gas assets.
* Serve as the key focal point for all accounting technical matters related to operational assets.
* Collaborate with subsidiaries’/BUs' finance teams to enhance the quality and timeliness of financial deliverables.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Finance Manager role will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. You should have a professional qualification from an internationally recognized accounting body or a Degree in Accounting. With at least 10 years of relevant working experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a management role, you are well-versed in the oil & gas upstream industry. Your background in auditing and corporate finance, coupled with your familiarity with the regulatory requirements of a public listed environment in Malaysia, makes you an ideal fit for this role. Your ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work independently to ensure timely reporting is crucial. Being detail-oriented and hands-on in preparing deliverables is also essential.
* Professional qualification from an internationally recognized accounting body or a Degree in Accounting.
* At least 10 years of relevant working experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a management role.
* Strong understanding and experience in the oil & gas upstream (E&P) industry.
* Experience in M&A, including due diligence.
* Background in auditing and corporate finance.
* Familiarity with the regulatory requirements of a public listed environment in Malaysia.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Capable of working independently to ensure timely reporting.
* Detail-oriented and hands-on in preparing deliverables.
* Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
