Our client is seeking a Deputy Finance Director to join their team in Kuala Lumpur. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and direct accounting activities within the finance division, including financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, auditing, and tax compliance. The successful candidate will have the chance to lead the accounting and finance functions of a dynamic organisation, ensuring all accounting records are accurately maintained and that the FinancialForce ERP and other finance-related applications function optimally.

What you'll do:
As a Deputy Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading the finance team. Your responsibilities will include overseeing month-end closing activities, preparing financial reports, managing budgets, developing internal controls, overseeing annual audits, and ensuring tax compliance. You will also be expected to support the CFO in financial related matters when reporting to the Finance Committee and Board of Governors.
- Oversee all month-end closing activities including consolidation of accounts and financial statements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for all entities.
- Review and analyse monthly financial results, manage forecasts and cash flow management.
- Manage the process of preparing and maintaining annual budget, budget variance reporting and periodic budget review.
- Develop and implement appropriate internal controls, compliance with international accounting standards and financial procedures.
- Oversee the annual audit of the financial statements and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Ensure tax compliances by monitoring tax requirements in relevant countries of operation.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Deputy Finance Director role will bring a wealth of experience from an accounting or finance function. You should hold a degree in Accounting or Finance or a related professional qualification. Being a certified accountant by recognised accountancy bodies would be advantageous. Your strong knowledge of accounting and tax regulations coupled with your diligence in performing duties will be crucial for this role. Additionally, your proficiency in English along with good communication skills will enable you to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or related professional qualification.
- Certified Accountant by recognised accountancy bodies.
- 5 to 8 years experience in an accounting or finance function.
- Experience in staff development and establishing cooperation at all working levels.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and tax regulations.
- Diligent in performing duties with attention to details.
- Good understanding and experience in implementation of internal controls.
- Analytical with good problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English with good communication skill.
