What you'll do:

  • Oversee the end-to-end credit assessment process for customers, ensuring thorough evaluation and prudent risk management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal policies, external regulations, trade finance standards to maintain full compliance at all times.
  • Mentor and develop a diverse team of credit analysts by establishing clear performance standards, nurturing talent through targeted training programmes in financial analysis, sector-specific risks, systems usage, and data analytics.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and service excellence within your team while balancing productivity with quality outcomes.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration by working closely with Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams to align objectives and share best practices.
  • Prepare regular reports for executive leadership that provide insight into portfolio quality, operational efficiency, audit readiness, and strategic progress.
  • Continuously improve governance controls to ensure audit readiness and mitigate potential risks before they arise.
  • Lead transformation initiatives such as automating workflows and digitising documentation to modernise credit risk management processes for greater efficiency.
  • Drive ongoing process optimisation efforts aimed at reducing cycle times, improving data quality, enhancing customer experience, and increasing automation rates.
  • Support strategic bids, long-term agreements, and high-value customer onboarding by engaging with key stakeholders including group/regional credit management teams, banks, insurers, and rating agencies.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or a related field is essential for understanding complex financial environments.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in credit risk management with significant exposure to multinational corporations—preferably within shipping or logistics sectors—is required for effective oversight.
  • Minimum five years’ proven track record as Head of Department for Credit Assessment & Risk Management demonstrates your ability to manage large-scale teams in agile settings.
  • Demonstrated success leading transformation or digitalisation projects shows your adaptability in modernising legacy processes.
  • Advanced analytical skills—including financial modelling—equip you to interpret complex data sets for informed decision-making.
  • Excellent communication abilities enable you to engage credibly with executive leadership as well as cross-functional teams globally.
  • High proficiency in PowerPoint presentations ensures clarity when reporting results or proposing strategies at board level meetings.
  • Project management expertise allows you to deliver strategic initiatives on time and within budget constraints.
  • Strong negotiation skills combined with resilience equip you to handle crisis situations effectively while maintaining positive relationships.
