What you'll do:
- Monitor, analyse, and report on all aspects of production costs, ensuring accuracy and transparency in cost allocation across various manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate closely with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to gather relevant data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management review, highlighting variances from budgeted figures and providing clear explanations for any discrepancies identified.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities by supplying reliable cost data, participating in planning meetings, and assisting with the preparation of financial models tailored to industrial operations.
- Conduct regular reviews of inventory valuation methods, standard costing procedures, and overhead allocations to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Assist with internal audits related to manufacturing costs by preparing documentation, responding to queries from auditors, and implementing recommended changes as needed.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to evaluate new projects or product lines from a cost perspective, providing input on pricing strategies and investment decisions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices in cost control and financial reporting, proactively suggesting enhancements that align with organisational goals.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops aimed at improving financial literacy among non-finance colleagues, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for cost management.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects as required by senior management, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to achieving team objectives.
