  • Join an organisation that encourages process improvement and innovation through automation and AI tools, empowering you to make a real difference in efficiency and reliability.

What you'll do:

As a Costing Senior Accountant based in Penang, you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your day-to-day responsibilities span from overseeing intricate cost accounting functions to collaborating with diverse teams across finance, operations, and business units. Your role will involve preparing detailed management reports that inform strategic decisions while ensuring strict compliance with both US GAAP and local statutory requirements. You will have the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders at all levels—locally and globally—providing valuable insights through variance analysis between actuals and forecasts. By participating in various audits and driving continuous process improvements through automation initiatives such as AI tools, you will help shape efficient workflows that underpin reliable financial outcomes. Your ability to coordinate inventory activities further ensures robust controls are maintained throughout the organisation. Success in this role comes from your commitment to accuracy, your collaborative approach when engaging with colleagues worldwide, and your enthusiasm for embracing new technologies that advance best practices.

  • Oversee all aspects of cost accounting including revenue recognition, product costing, margin analysis, inventory tracking, and comprehensive financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate month-end closing tasks by managing account analysis, reconciliation processes, and ensuring adherence to US GAAP as well as local statutory accounting standards.
  • Prepare timely management and statutory financial reports that comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, corporate policies, and both internal and external reporting obligations.
  • Conduct detailed analytical reviews by comparing actual results against forecasts, collaborating closely with business partners across departments to provide actionable financial advice.
  • Work hand-in-hand with local and global business partners to align business plans with corporate objectives while supporting strategic decision-making through insightful financial data.
  • Participate actively in US GAAP financial audits, local statutory audits, and SOX audits by providing necessary documentation and facilitating smooth audit processes.
  • Continuously evaluate current processes to identify areas for improvement by adopting best practices that enhance efficiency, reliability, and consistency across finance operations.
  • Engage in ad-hoc projects or reports as required by management or business needs, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to evolving priorities.
  • Drive process automation initiatives using big data analysis techniques and AI tools to streamline workflows and improve cost efficiency throughout the organisation.
  • Coordinate inventory counting activities by liaising with counters and auditors to ensure accurate stock records are maintained at all times.

What you bring:

To excel as a Costing Senior Accountant in this forward-thinking organisation, you will bring not only technical proficiency but also proven experience navigating complex manufacturing or commercial settings. Your background should reflect hands-on involvement in cost accounting processes—ranging from revenue recognition through inventory analysis—and demonstrate your capacity for producing accurate financial reports under tight deadlines. Your interpersonal strengths will shine as you collaborate across departments locally and internationally; these relationships are crucial for delivering insightful variance analyses that guide business planning. Familiarity with SAP systems or similar ERP platforms will allow you to quickly adapt within the team’s established frameworks. Additionally, your openness towards leveraging automation technologies such as AI tools positions you at the forefront of process improvement efforts. Above all else, your reliability under pressure combined with an empathetic approach towards teamwork ensures you contribute positively both technically and culturally within this inclusive environment.

  • Hold a degree in Finance or Accounting or possess recognised professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent), demonstrating strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Bring at least eight years’ experience gained within manufacturing or commercial environments where you have developed deep expertise in cost accounting functions.
  • Showcase exceptional communication skills coupled with outstanding interpersonal abilities that enable you to interact effectively with stakeholders at every level inside and outside the organisation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—including Excel for advanced data analysis—as well as Word and PowerPoint for clear report preparation.
  • Possess highly developed analytical skills along with a problem-solving mindset that allows you to interpret complex data sets accurately while offering practical solutions.
  • Display the ability to work dependably under minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy even when managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working with SAP systems is highly desirable as it enables seamless integration into existing processes; familiarity with financial process automation or AI tools is considered a strong advantage.
  • Previous exposure to US-based multinational manufacturing companies will be viewed favourably due to the global nature of this role’s responsibilities.
